I would expect this means the end of UWIMAP....which probably leaves DC [Dovecot] as open-source IMAP of choice. [That's what I think]

The custom keyword feature of the IMAP protocol will be disabled [in the Courier IMAP server], and IMAP clients will not be able to use it.
